These Terms & Conditions (the “Terms”) govern your access to and use of the BestAfricanFX website at bestafricanfx.com, together with any sub-domain, page, feature, dataset, email alert, API or other service we make available (collectively, the “Service”). The Service is operated by BestAfricanFX (“BestAfricanFX”, “we”, “us” or “our”).

These Terms apply equally to the BestAfricanFX website and to our mobile applications on any platform, as well as to any content, data or features accessed through them. References to the “Service” include both the web and mobile apps, and using either means you accept these Terms in full.

By accessing, browsing or otherwise using the Service in any way, you confirm that you have read, understood and accepted these Terms in full, and you agree to be bound by them. Your acceptance is implied by your use of the Service; no signature, account registration or other formality is required for these Terms to apply to you. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you must stop using the Service immediately.

If you use the Service on behalf of a company or other organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that organisation to these Terms, and “you” includes that organisation.

BestAfricanFX is an independent comparison and information platform for foreign-exchange and remittance corridors involving African currencies. We gather publicly available and partner-supplied pricing information, normalise it into a comparable form, and present it so that you can decide for yourself which provider to use.

We are not a bank, money services business, payment institution, money transmitter, bureau de change, broker or financial adviser. We do not hold, receive, transmit, convert, escrow or otherwise handle your money or any other person’s money at any point. We are not a party to any transaction you enter into with a provider, and we have no ability to execute, amend, delay, refund, reverse or cancel a transfer.

Every transfer you make is a contract between you and the provider you choose. That provider’s own terms, privacy policy, pricing, identity-verification requirements, limits and complaints procedure govern that contract, not these Terms.

Our name is BestAfricanFX, and throughout the Service you will see language such as “best rate”, “best value” or “top provider”. It is important that you understand precisely, and narrowly, what those words mean here.

Although this site is called “Best”, we sample only a finite number of providers, and we cannot and do not guarantee that the rates we display are the best rates available in the formal or informal foreign exchange and remittance conversion markets. The word “best” is used in a comparative sense limited strictly to the providers we sample, the corridors we cover, the transfer amount, funding method and payout method you select, and the moment at which the data was captured. It is not, and must not be read as, a representation about the entire market.

However, all reasonable efforts are made to sample the largest number of providers practicable for each corridor we cover, and to expand that coverage over time. Our sample is nonetheless necessarily incomplete. It may exclude, among others:

• licensed providers that do not publish pricing, that decline to be listed, that restrict automated access to their pricing, or that we have not yet added;
• banks, credit unions, fintechs and mobile-money operators whose pricing is only available to their own customers or after login;
• promotional, first-transfer, referral, loyalty, corporate or negotiated rates that are not available to the general public;
• parallel, street, peer-to-peer, cryptocurrency-intermediated and other informal or unregulated conversion channels, which in several African markets trade at materially different rates from the official market and which we do not endorse, encourage or hold out as an alternative; and
• corridors, currencies, amounts, funding methods or payout methods that fall outside our current coverage.

Accordingly, a provider shown at the top of a BestAfricanFX comparison is the best-performing provider within our sample, on the criteria you selected, at the time the data was captured — nothing more. You should treat our results as a well-researched starting point for your own enquiry, not as an exhaustive survey of the market or as a recommendation.

Comparison results are ranked objectively by effective rate — the amount the recipient actually receives for each unit of the sending currency, after the provider’s exchange rate, margin and disclosed fees have been applied to the specific amount you entered.

Commercial relationships never influence ranking position. Paid placements, where they appear, are displayed in a separate area that is clearly labelled as sponsored, sits outside the ranked results, and does not displace, reorder or suppress any ranked provider. Exchange rates, fees, margins, delivery estimates, limits and provider policies change frequently — often several times a day, and sometimes without notice. Data shown on the Service reflects the most recent information available to us at the time of capture and may already be out of date when you view it.

The Service is provided for information purposes only. While we take reasonable care in collecting, normalising and presenting data, we do not warrant that any rate, fee, saving, delivery estimate, ranking, historical series, chart, analysis or other content is accurate, complete, current, uninterrupted or error-free. Data may be affected by provider changes, source outages, collection errors, rounding, currency-market volatility, capital controls or multiple-exchange-rate regimes.

You must always confirm the final rate, fee, total cost, delivery time and recipient amount on the provider’s own website or app before committing to a transfer. The figures presented at the point of transaction by the provider are the only binding ones.

Where content on the Service is expressly labelled as sample, demonstration or illustrative data, it is provided to show how a feature works and must not be relied upon as a live market quotation.

Nothing on the Service constitutes financial, investment, currency-trading, tax, accounting, regulatory or legal advice, nor a recommendation, solicitation or endorsement to use any particular provider, to transact in any currency, or to time a transaction in any particular way. Rate alerts, market commentary, trend analysis and historical analysis are general information only and do not take account of your personal circumstances, objectives or needs. You are solely responsible for your own decisions and should obtain independent professional advice where appropriate.

The Service contains links to third-party websites and applications. We do not control and are not responsible for the content, pricing, security, availability, service quality, regulatory standing or conduct of any third party. Inclusion of a provider on the Service is not an endorsement, a verification of their licensing, or a guarantee of their performance.

BestAfricanFX may earn a commission, referral fee or other payment when you click through to a provider from our site, or when a transfer originates from us and you go on to use that provider’s service. Our rankings are determined solely by the payout each provider delivers, as stated in section 4. See the Editorial Independence for the full position.

Any dispute concerning a transfer — including delay, non-delivery, incorrect amount, fraud, account closure or refund — is a matter between you and the provider, and must be pursued through that provider’s complaints process and its regulator.

Some features require an account. You must provide accurate registration information, keep your credentials confidential, and accept responsibility for all activity under your account. You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live, to create an account. We may suspend or terminate an account that is used in breach of these Terms.

Rate alerts and notifications are provided on a best-efforts basis. They depend on our data-collection cycle and on email delivery outside our control, and may be delayed, duplicated or not delivered at all. They are not a guaranteed, real-time or execution-grade service and must not be relied on as a trading trigger.

Where a paid subscription tier is offered, the features, price and billing period applicable at the time of purchase will be shown before you commit. Paid features may be varied or withdrawn, and pricing may change on reasonable notice for future billing periods.

You agree not to:

• scrape, crawl, harvest, mirror, systematically extract or bulk-download content or data from the Service, or use automated means to access it, except with our prior written permission or under a licensed data agreement;
• resell, redistribute, sublicense or commercially exploit our data, rankings or analysis without a written licence from us;
• interfere with, overload, probe or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service or its infrastructure;
• misrepresent your identity, impersonate any person, or use the Service for any unlawful purpose; or
• use the Service to evade sanctions, capital controls, anti-money-laundering obligations or any other applicable law.

The BestAfricanFX name, logo, site design, editorial content, methodology, normalised datasets, rankings and compilations are owned by or licensed to us and are protected by intellectual-property laws. You may view, and make limited personal, non-commercial use of, the Service. You may quote short extracts with clear attribution and a link to the relevant page. All other rights are reserved. Provider names, logos and trademarks remain the property of their respective owners and are used for identification purposes only.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service and all content on it are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory, including any implied warranty of accuracy, completeness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or uninterrupted or secure operation. We do not warrant that the Service will be free of defects, that defects will be corrected, or that any specific result, rate, saving or outcome will be achieved.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, BestAfricanFX and its officers, employees, contractors and suppliers shall not be liable for any loss or damage — whether direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential or exemplary — arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, the Service. This includes without limitation any loss arising from:

• reliance on any rate, fee, ranking, saving figure, alert, forecast or other content on the Service;
• a rate, fee or delivery time differing from the one displayed here at the moment you transact;
• a better rate being available from a provider or channel we do not sample;
• the act, omission, insolvency, delay or default of any provider or other third party; or
• unavailability, interruption, delay or error in the Service or in any alert.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. Where liability cannot be excluded but may be limited, our total aggregate liability to you is limited to the greater of the amount you have paid us for the Service in the twelve months preceding the claim, or USD 100.

You agree to indemnify us against claims, losses and reasonable costs arising from your breach of these Terms or your misuse of the Service.

We collect only the information needed to operate the Service — for example, account details you provide, saved corridors and alert preferences, and anonymised usage and click data used to improve coverage and measure referral activity. We do not ask for, and you should never send us, payment card details, bank credentials or identity-verification documents; those belong with your chosen provider. Cookies and similar technologies are used for essential site functionality, session management and aggregate analytics.

We may add, change, suspend or withdraw any part of the Service, including corridors, providers, features and data, at any time. We may also update these Terms from time to time; the revised version takes effect when published on this page and the “last updated” date above will change. Your continued use of the Service after that date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms, so please review this page periodically.

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and us in relation to the Service. The Service is offered from our place of operation and we make no representation that it is appropriate or available in every jurisdiction; where you access it, you are responsible for compliance with local law.
